State Rep. Paul DeMarco (R-Homewood) Monday announced he will seek the GOP nomination for the House seat of retiring Congressman Spencer Bachus (R-Vestavia). DeMarco has served in the Legislature since 2005.
"Since 2005, I've worked hard in the Alabama Legislature to represent the people with conservative, reform-minded principles that are now needed in Congress," DeMarco said in a statement. DeMarco is the third candidate to announce his intentions to seek the Republican nomination. Previously, Dr. Chad Mathis, an orthopedic surgeon from Indian Springs, and Gary Palmer, a co-founder of the Alabama Policy Institute, announced bids.
