A Vestavia Hills lawyer was arrested, after authorities said he took clients' money without performing services. 49-year old John Wood, who once practiced divorce law from an office on Pump House Road, is charged with theft. "They paid him money for services, and he never provided them," said Vestavia police lieutenant Brian Gilham. "He never returned calls, he never did anything for the money they paid. Wood is charged with swindling one client out of $5-thousand dollars, and a second client out of more than $15-hundred dollars. Police say Wood could face additional charges. He is being held on $500-thousand dollars bond, because he frequently takes trips out of the country.
